As our Data Analyst, your job will be to help us make better decisions about our business, marketing, product development, and more.
You’ll work with our team — reporting directly to our CMO — to track the performance of marketing channels, illuminate product usage patterns, analyze churn, forecast revenue impact of growth projects and pricing changes, and translate data to help everyone understand the impact of their work.

What you’ll do
Your analysis won’t sit on a shelf in some executive office. You’ll be answering questions that directly impact Podia and our creators’ success, like:
- What are the long-term unit economics of our various marketing efforts?
- What would happen to sales and revenue if we introduced plan X at price Y?
- Is this new feature working as we wanted it to, and if so, what kinds of creators are finding it most useful?
- How does the cohort of creators who came in via this campaign differ from those who came in from last month’s campaign?
- How is our new marketing site performing compared to the old one, from first visit through the entire customer lifecycle?
In addition to questions like these, you’ll also:
- Define and track KPIs for launches, campaigns, and product features.
- Uncover insights about how creators and their audience use Podia to inform product development, marketing, and support.
- Design, build, and automate dashboards.
- Design and measure A/B and multivariate tests,
- “Own” data at Podia – this includes designing and automating reports and defining requirements for event tracking. This also means that you’ll be responsible for ensuring that our data stays clean and up-to-date. For example, when our development team changes the name of an event, you’ll communicate and follow up with our data engineering partner to ensure that everything continues to work smoothly.
- On that note, you’ll have a data engineering partner who you’ll work with to ensure that events are instrumented properly and the stack is maintained. The core responsibilities of this role sit squarely within data analysis, rather than engineering.
- Translate data signals into actionable insights for different stakeholders (executives, strategists, writers, support agents, designers, etc.).
Important: this is not a job where you’ll be tasked with helping us squeeze every last dime out of customers. We’re a business and we need to stay profitable, but our goal, more broadly, is to empower creative entrepreneurs, and we need help using data to make our path to doing that more clear.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has been a data analyst in a subscription software company. You should have a strong understanding of standard SaaS metrics like MRR, churn, LTV/CAC, etc.
- Is passionate about getting a helpful answer, and not just the technically correct one. When you get asked for an answer, you’re comfortable pushing back and helping the asker ask a better question that gets to the root of what they’re trying to achieve.
- Has a mastery of SQL and is comfortable with the tools in the modern data stack. Python is a nice-to-have, but by no means a requirement. We use Fivetran for ingestion, Snowflake for storage, dbt for transformations, and Sigma/Metabase for BI. You’ll be asked to build queries and dashboards in Metabase and Sigma. Of course, you’ll also be asked to weigh in on future data tooling decisions and purchases.
- Has fluency in common programming languages helpful for analysis, such as Python and R.
- Has strong familiarity with common testing methodologies/frameworks and web analytic tools.
- Has experience with predictive and descriptive modeling.
- Has data visualization skills, and more broadly Is an ambassador for data fluency. People have different levels of understanding about data, analysis, experiment design, statistical rigor, and all of the important things that you’ve spent so much time mastering. You need to be able to simplify the complex for people, and help them better understand how data is helping them.
- At least 5 hours overlap with US Eastern Time.
- 4+ years of data analyst experience, preferably in SaaS.

About the hiring process:
Interested in joining our team? Great!
We’ll begin reviewing applications immediately, and continue to review them for the first two weeks after the date of posting. There's no benefit to applying in the first five minutes, and we'd rather you take your time. We heavily weigh the answers to our application form rather than data from LinkedIn or resumes. We typically reduce the candidate pool down to a small handful who move on to a small test project.
The project phase is a short paid test project, run very much like something you could expect to do if you were hired for the role. We’ll give you a week to complete the project, but expect that you’ll only need ~4 hours.
We’ll review the test projects, provide feedback in a single revision round for promising projects, and then based on the results of the revision round, select candidates to go on for an interview.
You’ll have five total interviews over Zoom, including:
- The CMO (Hiring manager)
- The CTO
- The Director of Growth Marketing
- One additional member of our team
- The CEO
The last interview will be with Spencer, our CEO, who can answer any questions you have about the broader goals and workings of the company.
After that, we'll decide on our final candidates and ask for professional references from both a previous co-worker and a manager. We'll reach out to those references to set up a brief 10 minute call or email.
Finally, all going well, we'll make a written offer to the successful candidate which can be signed electronically 🥳
