Novant Health was founded in 1997 as a result of the merger of Carolina Medicorp of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Presbyterian Health Services of Charlotte, North Carolina.  At the moment it is a network of physician clinics, hospitals, and outpatient facilities.

Novant Health is a not-for-profit integrated system of 15 medical centers and more than 1,600 physicians in nearly 700 locations, as well as numerous outpatient surgery centers, medical plazas, rehabilitation programs, diagnostic imaging centers, and community health outreach programs.
